The 1841 census shows John and Margaret Neve (aged 60 & 45) at 'East Cross', Tenterden with an occupation of glazier or grazier. She retired to Guernsey, her birthplace, where she died just 43 days short of her 111th birthday! She insisted in walking 1 1/2 km into St Peter Port on Saturdays to the market and on Sundays to church until the last few years of her life. Being an expert horticulturist, especially with pansies, she was still seen wielding a light spade at the age of 108. She lived in three centuries, and during the reigns of five British sovereigns. A copy of her will is held (in French). She has an entry in the 1968 Guinness Book of Records.
