Enlisted in the RAF at 17. Traveled throughout the Middle East during the war. Was in Iraq, Egypt, Arabia and Palestine. Worked as a gunner on Spitfires and B-52 bombers. After the war he returned to the family home in Maidenhead. Took charge of the family store but didn't like it. Married Brenda Hallifax March 20, 1948. Moved to Chandler's Ford where he had a house built (Mandeville). Emmigrated to Canada with his wife and 3 chidren in June 1957 aboard the RMS Mauretania II from Southampton to New York. Travelled up through New York State and into Ontario then on to Alberta where they settled in Edmonton. Started work at a new Simpsons-Sears department store in Jasper Place and worked his way up to Division Manager. Tired of retail financial pressures and joined the Federal Government in 1962 and was sent north with his family. First posting was Great Whale River, PQ then in 1964 moved to Aklavik, NWT. In 1965 he was transfered to Yellowknife and took up the post of Chief Housing Officer for the Mackenzie and Kewatin Districts. Resigned in 1969 to join his cousin Rupert Neve in the North American development of Neve Electronics. To this end he moved to Toronto to scout out a North American base of operations. Settled on Connecticut and moved to Bethel in 1971.
