Narrative

He was in partnership with his son, Horace Charles
(note continued from his father, James Higham)
"Charles Higham was born on 1 June 1846 at Cottesmore in Rutland [bc]. After the family's move to Faversham in 1858 or so, he assisted his father in the printing and bookbinding lines before moving to London at the age of 16 to work for Simpkin's on 4 November 1862, and then for David Nutt before going over to R. D. Dickinson in or before 1864. Charles Higham purchased a share in the Dickinson business in Farringdon Street, London, in 1870 and took over its bookselling business while Dickinson concentrated on the publishing side [PC: 1 and 15 Sept. 1890]." In 1878 Charles Higham issued a catalogue on the whole stock of theological books formerly held by the late firm of Dickinson and Higham. The British Library holds Higham catalogues issued between 1886 and 1916, those from October 1907 issued jointly by Charles and his son Horace Charles Higham. Charles Higham died at his home at 169 Grove Lane, Camberwell, on 16 February 1920. Two works by him are known: A correspondence between the Rev. R.J. Tilson, (minister of the Camberwell Society of the New Jerusalem Church), and a member of that Society in 1890, and Francis Barthelemon in 1896."
(note continued with his brother, Henry Higham)
