Narrative
A Crowhurst Monumental Inscription states : "William Neve died Feb.17 1831 and Hannah his wife died Jan. 20 1823 aged 7? years. Charles son of the above died March 23 1853 and Elizabeth his wife died Feb. 6 1861 in her 87th year, leaving six sons and six daughters. Charlotte daug. of the above Charles and Elizabeth died ? 1827 aged 20 years."
The 1851 census returns for Hastings, Kent records : "Charles Neve age 81, married, farmer of 54 acres employing 2 men. Living at Clive Vale Farm. Place of birth: Wittersham."
