He became a surgeon after studying at St Andrews and a MRCS on 14.04.1845, FRCS on 11.04.1850.
He was a house surgeon at University College Hospital, also a fellow of the Obstectric Society. In 1855 he was in partnership with Thomas Morris MD at Queens Rd, Peckham. He lived at 5 Union Terrace Peckham and 20 Warwick Place, Peckham Rye. In 1875 he was in partnership with Philip George Philips at Talfourd House, Camberwell. He lived in retirement at 55 Kensington Mansions, Earls Court and 63 Philbeach Gardens, London SW. His portrait is in the fellows album.
