Obituary : "Funeral services for Mathilda (Tillie) Sauke, 85, formerly of Walters, who resided at Good
Samaritan Center in Albert Lea for the past 10 years, will be held at the Mansfield Lutheran Church on
Friday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Mark J. Asleson will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Mansfield Lutheran Cemetery. Mrs. Sauke died Tuesday evening at Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Sept. 7, 1896, in Kankakee, Ill. to Claus and Christina (Simonson) Neve. She was a
lifetime Walters area resident. She married Fred Sauke on Feb. 17, 1920 at St. John's Lutheran Church
in Walters.
She and her husband farmed in Mansfield Township until retirement in 1959, when they moved to
Walters. She was a member of Mansfield Lutheran Church and of the Mansfield ALCW until she moved to the Good Samaritan Center.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Vernita) Hamren of Owatorina, Mrs. Evelyn Hoffman of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Harold (Corrine) Tveit of Centralia, Wash; three sons, Maynard of Alden, Arthur of Walters, and Ralph of Kiester; 20 grand-children; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Westney, Bremen, Ind., and Mr. Cecelia Hermesdorf, Colorado Springs, Co., and one brother, George Neve, of Walters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred on Sept. 25, 1972; three brothers; three sisters; one half sister and two half brothers. Friends may call at the Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Thursday at 5-9 p.m."
