Obituary : "Louis Edward Neve, Austin Rt. 5 was born Oct. 24, 1893, at Kankakee, Ill., to Claus and Christina Neve. He had resided near Brownsdale for 50 years. He passed away at St. Olaf Hospital on Jan. 27, 1977. Surviving are two sons, Raymond and Robert of Austin, one daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Leslie Hovda), New Hope, Minn., a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Evan (Caroline) Neve, Austin; one brother, George, Walters, Minn.; four sisters, Mathilda sauke, Albert Lea, Minn., Emily Westney, Bremem, Indiana., Cecelia Hermesdorf, Arlington Heights, Ill., Lillian Miller, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma, a son Evan, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 30, 1977, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, rural Waltham, Pastor Karl Koch officiating with Mrs. Wilmer Schlichting as organist. Burial was at the church cemetery. Pallbearers were David Neve, Michael Neve, Jeffrey Neve, Kevin Neve, Gregory Neve, and Scott Hovda. Louis was a happy Christian man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to relatives and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Peace be to his memory."
