At the time of her marriage she was said to be of Oxford Terrace, Hyde Park, London and Roselands, Enfield, Middlesex. She was the author of two books, one a novel titled "Ermengarde, a story of Romney Marsh in the thirteenth century", published in 1893 by Elliot Stock. A copy is held in the library of the University of Kent at Canturbury. After the death of her husband, she lived at Homesdale House, Riverhead moving from Wittersham to Riverhead in 1907.
She died on Easter eve, 1918, of heart failure in her sleep following an attack of pleurisy.
She is buried in the churchyard of St Mary, The Virgin, Riverhead. She left an estate of £760.17s.9d. The grave was marked with a celtic cross designed by her son Ernest Hadden Parkes, FRIBA. The altar cross in Riverhead church is dedicated to her memory as is the reserve sacrament lamp in the Lady Chapel.
