Notice in Cricket - March 31, 1910. Mr Richard Neve, a member of the well-known cricketing family of Benenden, died at Ash Lawn, Benenden, Kent on Feb 25 in his eighty-first year. Will proved by Herbert Neve and Arthur Neame, £32,414 8s 3d. He was buried at St Georges Benenden on 1 March 1910. Baptised there on 25.06.1829.

The following inscription is recorded in the North Chapel, Benenden Parish Church 'Giving thanks to God for the loving memory of Richard and Emma Neve. This window is erected by those who revered and loved them.' Also in Smallhythe Church there is an inscription put there by Horace Neve in his memory, having owned Pickhill Farm in the parish (reported by NADFAS Feb 1997). The 1861 census shows him living at Beacon Hill, Benenden. At this time he was farming 1600 acres employing 76 men and 26 boys.
